1. Information We Collect
To provide accurate route recording and offline map navigation, ZhuiZhui (hereinafter "the Application") will collect the following necessary data after your authorization:
- Precise Location Information (GPS): The Application uses location services to collect your precise latitude, longitude, and altitude, in order to record your running/hiking route, calculate pace, distance, elevation gain and loss, and show your current position on the map. While an activity is being recorded, the Application continues collecting location in the background (with a persistent notification indicating recording is active), so that route recording stays complete and uninterrupted during long outdoor activities.
- Device Orientation Sensor: The Application uses your device's built-in orientation sensor to detect the phone's heading, used for the map's compass/orientation display. The Application does not access your camera or capture any images.
- User-Created and Imported Track Data: When you record a running/hiking activity, add waypoints, or import GPX, KML, or KMZ track files, this data is stored only in a local database and file system on your device, and is not uploaded to any server.
- Live Location Sharing (Optional Feature): If you actively enable "Live Sharing" while recording a hike, the Application periodically (approximately every 2 minutes) uploads your GPS coordinates and timestamp to our server, generating a unique share link that lets people you choose view your current hiking location. This feature is off by default and must be actively enabled by you. You may turn it off at any time in Settings; once disabled, all share links associated with your account — including past, completed routes — immediately stop working for anyone. This feature is only available in Hiking mode, not Running mode.
- Device Advertising ID: This application uses Google AdMob and Meta Audience Network to provide advertising services. These services may collect your device's Advertising ID for ad delivery and performance measurement.
2. How We Use Information
Collected information is only used to support your outdoor activity recording experience, for the following specific purposes:
- Running/Hiking Recording: Records your route, distance, time, pace (Running mode), and elevation gain/loss (Hiking mode), and lets you mark waypoints at any point along the way. All records are stored locally on your device.
- Offline Map Display: The offline map data you download (including 魯地圖/Rudy Map for Taiwan and OpenAndroMaps data for other countries) is used only to display maps and contour lines locally on your device; while browsing the map, your coordinates are never transmitted to any map data provider or to our servers.
- Map Orientation Display: Combines device orientation sensor readings so the map display reflects the direction your phone is facing, helping with outdoor navigation.
- Route Export & Sharing: When you actively choose to export or share an activity record, the Application uses your device's standard system sharing feature to send the GPX file to an app of your choosing (such as a messaging app or cloud storage). The recipient and content are entirely your choice; we do not handle or store any data involved in this sharing process.
- Ad Display & Personalization: Used to display ads within the application, and to determine whether to provide personalized ad content based on your consent status.
3. Third-Party Services & Advertising
The Application uses the following third-party services to provide offline map data and advertising. Their handling of personal data follows their respective privacy policies:
- 魯地圖 / Rudy Map (map.happyman.idv.tw): Provides offline vector map data (including contour lines) for Taiwan. Map data is downloaded as a complete package to your device and displayed locally; the download process does not involve your location coordinates.
- OpenAndroMaps: Provides offline vector map data for regions outside Taiwan. Map data is likewise downloaded as a complete package to your device and displayed locally; the download process does not involve your location coordinates.
- Google AdMob: Acts as the ad mediation platform, managing and displaying ads, and may collect the device Advertising ID for ad delivery and performance measurement. Users in the EEA can choose whether to consent to personalized advertising through the in-app consent management platform.
- Meta Audience Network: Participates in ad bidding through AdMob Mediation for ad delivery within this application, and may receive device Advertising ID information depending on user consent status.
4. Data Storage & Retention
This application does not require user account registration. Your location information is used only at the time of recording an activity to calculate your route and statistics, and we do not store your location on our own servers — UNLESS you actively enable the "Live Sharing" feature (see above), in which case that hike's coordinates and timestamps are uploaded and temporarily stored on our server, used only to generate a share link for people you choose. This cloud-stored data is automatically deleted after a maximum of 3 months; you may download a GPX backup via the share page before it expires. When this feature is not enabled, nothing changes — no location data ever leaves your device.
All activity records, routes, and waypoints you record or import are stored only in the local database and file system on your device, and are removed when you uninstall the Application. We cannot access or recover this data. If you export a GPX file to another app or cloud service via the sharing feature before uninstalling, that copy is then subject to the retention practices of the service you chose, independent of uninstalling this Application. This "local storage, removed on uninstall" data is a separate, independent mechanism from the cloud share data generated by the "Live Sharing" feature described above: uninstalling this Application does NOT delete any share data already generated in the cloud. If you wish to delete that data, please turn off Live Sharing before uninstalling.
